But, on our 14th day of a travel we rested. We didn’t realize how nice a day of rest would feel. Chrissy’s husband, Steve and son, Steven were kind enough to bring us one of their rental cars to get us to the wedding and back to the hotel. We also needed to go to the store and find Mimi a pair of shoes. When Steve called Papa to let him know they were at the hotel, we walked out to find they had brought us a Camero Convertable. Steve said, “Yeah, I decided to upgrade.” Oh wow. (No, we didn’t take the top down. We didn’t know how and we afraid to just push buttons! 😂)
Google told us we were close to the San Clemente Outlet Mall; it was less then three-miles from the hotel. Mimi has come to the realization that driving in unknown areas with lots and lots of traffic gives her a bit of anxiety. And it would be great if the GPS gal gave a few more details in her directions. What girl doesn’t give all the details? 😜
We turned into the mall and pulled right into a car parade. Who knew? There were people were everywhere! We had no idea where to go or what was going on but, suddenly, we were in the midst of a line of cars, a crowd and cameras. Mimi rolled her window down and asked a couple in the crowd, “What is happening here?” The lady said, “It’s a car show and parade.” “Where should we go to park?” “Go all the way around the back.” Papa said, “Get me out of here!” That’s just what I did, “Turn here.” “Go left.” “Drive back there.” At least we were driving a pretty nice car. Perhaps people thought we were part of the parade!
We shopped for a little bit, Mimi found a pair of shoes and a gift for the happy couple. We may have also found something for a few family members for Christmas. But, shhhh… don’t tell your parents.
Papa kept talking about wanting to go out to the pool and swim, but he never left the room. Instead, he relaxed on the bed and watched sports. I think he’s been missing his tv/sports time as we’ve rarely been able to get anything connected. I bet he will buy a cable device for next time. We saw many people have them they just set outside. Mimi did some reading on the balcony. It was nice to rest up in preparation of the journey home.
Before we knew it, we were getting ready and driving over to the wedding. It was held at the Ole Hanson Beach Club which overlooked the ocean. It was stunning. And the sunset?? Magnificent! I am certain Rachel and Phoenix will have some gorgeous photos to remember their day. I tried to capture some with my phone, but they just didn’t do it justice. It was spectacular. Papa asked Mimi if I’d rather be at the ocean or in the mountains. I wasn’t really sure. Perhaps on a mountain overlooking the ocean? Which do you prefer?
Now, it’s time to turn around and begin the long journey back East! We’re not sure yet which route to take now that we know we can’t go to see the Redwood’s. Papa doesn’t want to go back through Los Angeles again. (Can’t blame him). There were many areas we weren’t able to stop and see on the way out so we might go back the same way we came. I guess we will all be surprised to discover where we end up. We will let you know where in the world Papa and Mimi parked tomorrow.
Love and Miss you,
Papa and Mimi
