Unfortunately for me, I have had to learn some hard lessons because I didn't want to listen to the counsel of others. I've had to fail at a few things and miss the boat a few times to realize that God has put people in my life to EXHORT me. We are told in Proverbs 12:15 that; "The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but he who heeds counsel is wise." As hard as it may be, I need to swallow my pride and admit that I am not always right! And listening to the counsel of those godly people around me is very necessary. Sometimes I may just need a little nudge while at other times I need to be advised strongly. While I may not have always appreciated, or wanted to hear the advice at the moment, over time I could hear the wisdom of the Lord in it. We must remember that sin is deceitful and when we won't allow ourselves to be exhorted by others we may need to ask ourselves; "why?" Have we allowed ourselves to become hardened to it? So, as I begin my blog journey with you on this, my very first website, I pray that you will understand that as I am exhorted by the Word, I EXHORT you. In love so that, together, we can remain soft and pliable to God's leading.
While thinking about the verse in Hebrews 3:13 which says;“Exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.", I decided to check out Dictionary.com's definition of the word, exhort. It says this; "To urge or persuade (someone) earnestly; advise strongly." Now, I'm not sure about you, but sometimes, I don't like to listen to advice. I can be pretty strong-willed when I get something I want in mind. And having someone tell me what I might not want to hear is hard for me. You too? Great! It is always nice to know that I am not alone.
